Working on innovation

Odeke and her DevOps team work on small business projects. “For example, we’re renewing the website that municipalities use to submit applications for things like the installation or removal of public lighting. Plus all the processes related to the digital processing of applications. This includes things like the digital forms used by contractors, the system Enexis employees use to assess the applications, and the associated messaging including the checks. It’s a huge assignment. With the help of user stories, we build what our internal client has in mind. I use various possible scenarios to test whether the built parts work as intended.”

Understanding how processes work

Although her background might be a bit unconventional, the test work perfectly suits Odeke. “Believe it or not, I studied psychology. I got involved in this work through a temporary job after my studies. I’m curious about how processes work and why they work the way they do. What's behind her career choice? Analysis is an important part of my job. I enjoy investigating where the biggest risks are in a software product. I then work with the entire DevOps team, which includes information analysts, administrators, product owners and developers, to determine the best way to test and how intensively it should be done. I love the fact that we stand together as a team for the quality of the entire development process in a project.”

Continuous professional growth

Good collaboration with her colleagues helps Odeke grow in her work. “I learn the most when we analyse unexpected test results together. We walk through the process and the code to find out exactly what’s going wrong. It’s a great way to learn. I can more often find the cause myself when a test gets stuck. There are also all kinds of training programmes and opportunities. We get a training budget and the time and space to work on our development. For example, I’m currently studying the Tosca test automation system. It’s a no-code tool that allows you to automate testing in various ways. It’s great that Enexis genuinely encourages and promotes professional growth.”
