That the role of product owner is an extremely varied one, becomes evident from Geertruida’s job. As IT Services product owner, she works together with 4 teams – comprising a total of 40 employees – on the continuous development of the IT services. “Together, we are transforming the IT services to ensure Enexis not only meets the requirements of today, but is also prepared for the challenges of the future.”

Various teams

The best thing about her job? “That I work with a variety of teams.” Geertruida shares enthusiastically. She manages both the central IT desk and the support team for users at the office locations. In addition, she is the product owner for the Service Development and Service Improvement DevOps teams, tasked with optimising the Enexis IT services. “We are the connecting link in the organization, and I am the first point of contact for our services.”

Optimising the IT service provision

“My task? To align service quality with the organization's goals: to accelerate the energy transition,” Geertruida continues. “I get energy from reconciling service quality with the needs of employees across Enexis – from office workers to those implementing projects on sites – and doing that in the best possible way. How I do that? By keeping in constant touch with the business and really getting to know the users.”

Proud

A lot of interaction with all layers of the organization is essential in Geertruida’s work. As product owner, she takes stock of business requirements and then translates them into actions for her DevOps teams. “I gather my information by using surveys to ask people what they think of our services, and from branch meetings. We also organize the TechOntdekExpo once or twice a year, an initiative I have devised and implemented. During this event, we use presentations and demonstrations to introduce employees to new developments in IT. And we collect feedback in interactive sessions. The goal? To include users in our work and bring IT closer to them. Yes, I am very proud of this initiative.”

Service portal 2.0

Other projects Geertruida is proud of? “Starting the optimization process for the service portal, aimed at taking the customer journey to the next level with new features. And the wonderful collaboration with the onboarding team, with which IT set up an excellent support system for new Enexis employees.”

Proactive service provision

“With us, it is all about proactive service provision,” Geertruida says. “We not only receive reports, but we also try to prevent incidents. We can, for instance, identify laptop issues remotely. We sometimes solve a problem that employees were not yet aware of themselves. That is cool.”

Making an impact

Geertruida started her Enexis adventure in 2018, and did so with the same enthusiasm she still feels today. “Working on social tasks is very important to me. Our projects are challenging and innovative, and have a direct impact on our organization and clients. As a result, everything I do is part of the energy transition, of which we are very aware in IT Services. Our team is a nice mix of employees of all ages and backgrounds. The atmosphere is fantastic; we like to help each other and are extremely service- and quality-oriented. ‘A little better every day’ is our mantra. And to then see positive results from our work, such as less management work due to improvements, is highly motivating.”
